Isaiah Johnson Loves 'Cuse Official Visit

Syracuse commit Isaiah Johnson took his official visit over the weekend. While it was not the first time he had been on campus, he loved what he saw. He spoke about the trip with CuseNation.com.

Syracuse had several prospects on campus this weekend for official visits. The important recruiting weekend had some committed players visiting as well. One of those players was 2-star defensive end Isaiah Johnson

"I got here on Friday," Johnson recalled. "I got off the plane and they were waiting for me right at the baggage claim. Coach Tim Daoust picked me up. He took me to the hotel and checked into the hotel. I had a little downtime and then we had dinner.

"Then after dinner I chilled with a bunch of the players and we went to a party. We just had a lot of fun. I woke up Saturday and had breakfast. Then we toured. We had an educational tour. Then we toured the campus some more. We had lunch after that.

"Then we went to meetings and got to watch practice," Johnson continued. "It was about two hours worth of practice. We had dinner after that. Then we got to chill with the football players again."

One of his favorite parts of the trip was spending time with the current Orange players. It was great to be able to spend time with his future teammates and get a taste of college life.

"I got to hang with Shamarko Thomas, Jerome Smith, Jay Bromley, Eric Crume, Brandon Reddish, Keon Lyn, all of the d-line, Dyshawn Davis, Siriki Diabate, and a bunch of other guys. It was actually a really good time."

While Johnson's commitment is solid, there were several undecided prospects on campus who have not made a decision but are considering Syracuse. Johnson is confident about the impression the trip made.

"All the feedback was real good," he admitted. "So I think they loved it. They loved the facilities and the campus. It was great hanging out with them. Even after meetings and practice, it was all positive, positive, positive.

"I've tried to get a couple people to come here. I tried to get Ebenezer Ogundeko to come here in the past but I haven't been able to connect with him. But it's whatever they want to make it. SU is a great place and is a great football family to be a part of. If you don't want to be part of that, then you're missing out."

The Elkton (MD) product was already excited about his future at Syracuse. After the visit, that excitement has increased even more.

"It boosted it through the roof," Johnson admitted. "It's just great that I got the whole college experience this weekend. The only thing I didn't do was actually go into a class. But even with that, I'm still extremely excited. For now it's just a matter of time before I get here.

"I'm just really excited to get here. I can't wait."
